Aldous Huxley, a very profound British author's views on the Geeta go as follows"The Bhagwat geeta is the most systematic statement of spiritual evolution of endowing value to the mankind।it is one the most clear and comprehensive summaries ofperennial philosophies ever revealed, hence, it's enduring value is subject not only to India but to mankind as a whole."
der r so many versions of bhagvat geeta available, which 1 do u think is closest to the words of krishna!!
ReplyDeleteconfusion begins frm here and leaves nothin but chaos
I wud recommend Listening to Osho's Geeta Darshan.Osho's commentary is so relevant and poetic that it will be an effortless sojourn. Once you have got yourself acquainted with Geeta then you can make a choice to futher concentrate, depending on your own leanings towards Gyan, Bhakti or Karm. But, start it in earnest. It will take at least one year to finish Osho's Geeta darshan.
ReplyDeleteIn hindsight, I was struck with a point you made in your question.Which one do I think is the closest to the words of Krishna.......?
ReplyDeleteDear Abhi, one of the biggest problems of human existence is the disconnect between experience and words. No matter how profound one's grip on expression , it will always fall short of the experience. How can u make someone understand the joy of a morning jog? How do u explain someone what love is?
Just like most of the vital things in life, self realisation is also EXPERIENTIAL.No amount of words can make you understand the metaphysical...... Imagine , if we require all our concentration to experience even the most mundane and the obvious joys of life, to experience the abstract will require a lot of training . We will have to shift from our minds to our hearts. Experiences can not be thought, they can only be lived. Most of the valuable things in life are to be lived.
So, Dear Abhi, there is none that is close to the words of Krishna, even Geeta Darshan by Osho will fall short. The only thing that is going to work is YOUR TOTAL SURRENDER . You , yourself have to becum that bridge between Krishna and yourself.Right now, as we are, we are the barriers between Krishna and ourselves. The moment we start living with our hearts, we will get connected to the Krishna consciousness, and then Geeta will descend on us efortlessly.
So, no particular teeka on Geeta is authentic! It is you , who has to be authentic. Become friendly with Krishna, keep logic outside the premises of this temple. Enter with total surrender. You will get connected.
That's a promise.
rightly said tin da " the moment we start living with our hearts,we will get connected to Krishna consciousness"
ReplyDeletebasic problems is that we don't know how to live,we r doing each n every thing just for the sake of doing......we don't know how to laugh,we don't know how to cry and even we don't know how to love..........
we have to be human first, after that only we can understand krishna...in our journey to the spiritual n enlightened world our first step is to try to be a human first....a person who is full of life.....then only we can go on second step
what u say ?????
What I say kid brother is that you have hit the nail on it's head! You are right in inferring that we shud start living with our hearts. The point is that how do we do it? More on this later.....
ReplyDeleteJust want to add a quote of Dalai Lama,i just read in TOI, "We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affections"
ReplyDeletefound it pretty close to the context we are talking......anyways waiting desperately for your comments or rather say your tips\advice on "How do we do it"
Beloved Ishwari,
ReplyDeleteThere are myriad ways to live with a heart and each one of us will have to find his or her own ways too, but I will try to enumerate a heartful living as I have understood it.
First, to live with your heart, you have to be fearless. Nothing dissolves courage more then fear. A man devoid of courage is like a toothless, clawless tiger! It is the fuel which drives your inner enquiry. If you have to explore the world around you, you have to be equipped with courage. Fear cripples the being completely and the existence of fearful people is quite a meaningless presence on mother earth.
Secondly, to live with your heart, you have to be free of ego ! Ego is the most potent barrier between you and existence(Paramatma).
Now my chain of thoughts is broken, I will continue tomorrow....
The third thing my dear Ishwari is to be aware ! Be aware of yourself !
ReplyDeleteI quote these marvellous words by William Saroyan-"The most solid advice for a seeker is this, I think: Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough."
Analyse your last 24 hours and reflect how much of that time was spent in awareness and how much in absentia ! Slowly, slowly, make awareness a part of your personality. The most amazing consequence will be freedom from anger ,jealousy ,laziness and lust. Just try it ! It works!
